Lifeeze

Your personal fiduciary assistant for life is more than just a document storage system — it’s an active and comprehensive system. You can:

  • create and store your will, documents, and passwords
  • evaluate potential liquidity issues for your estate after your passing
  • run a “mock estate” at any moment to see what your family would inherit based on real-time data
  • receive WhatsApp reminders before your passport or firearm license expires
  • set additional reminders
  • specify your wishes for your pets
  • unlock your secret letters of wishes upon notification of your death
  • leave photos or videos for loved ones on special occasions or milestones when you’re no longer around
  • and much more

You will have access to up-to-date data through our integration partners, including details on life policies, insurance, medical aid, directorships, property ownership and values, motor vehicle values, black-listings, and other relevant information.

You can build your family tree and grant access to selected individuals. This ensures your family can manage daily needs, such as paying bills and other recurring expenses, during a difficult period after your death.

00%

The Statistic That Should Worry Everyone

Approximately 60–70% of South Africans lack a valid, properly drafted will. Among the roughly 30% who do have one, many are still contestable because they were not correctly drafted. Both situations result in chaos, delays, and additional costs for the family left behind.

Why is Lifeeze unique?

Lifeeze is more than a life file that can become outdated or forgotten.

Lifeeze isn’t a one-time task you complete and then ignore. It’s designed to be your continuous personal assistant—more than just a tool to decide who gets what when you pass away.

Lifeeze transforms life admin from a sporadic, panic-driven process into a consistently updated, maintained system that you can use throughout your life.

All of the features listed below improve its usefulness.

Your Digital Vault & Document Library

Upload life documents into a predetermined, sensible folder structure — no more guessing where things should go. Keep it up-to-date.

Access estate planning information via integration partners

Various third-party integrations provide the platform with valuable data instantly, including information on life policies, short-term insurance, medical aid, property registrations and values, vehicle valuations, directorships, trust details, blacklisting, and more.

Reminders (renewals, WhatsApp)

Reminders sent via WhatsApp nudge you toward the minimum set of documents every family should have on file, so the product stays useful (and used) long before anyone needs it.

Reminders will be generated from uploaded documents such as motor vehicle licence renewals, passport renewals, and so on. You can also set up your own reminders, whether one-off or recurring. These alerts will be sent to you via WhatsApp.

Password & Crypto Vault

Store all types of passwords securely, including crypto wallet credentials, with controlled, sequential access to designated individuals after your passing. Passwords are released upon your death and confirmed using Home Affairs data. You can opt for offline storage to enhance security for high-value items.

Liquidity Calculator & “Mock Estate”

Using your imported data and/or manually entered information, along with your life file documents, run a real estate liquidity calculation. See exactly what your family would face today, while you can still make changes.

Run a mock estate at any time. See who inherits what under your actual will, or in its absence. Run multiple scenarios, save them, and compare.

A man reading a letter at a table in a dark room

Family & Heirs

Invite family members and heirs to join your Lifeeze so the people who’ll need this information already have access to the system.

Write a letter of wishes and store it securely, to be released only after your passing has been confirmed.

The Will Wizard

Generate your own will through a guided wizard.

Estateeze

Estate administration is now digitized and optimised for executors, fiduciary firms, and family offices. From Home Affairs death notifications to the Liquidation & Distribution account, Estateeze automates and monitors the legal procedures an executor must follow, retrieving data directly from the deceased’s Lifeeze when needed. Executors also benefit from immediate access to information via our integration partners, a feature that other estate administration platforms often lack.

Automation, compliance, integrations, cash flow management, milestone tracking in one place

Why is Estateeze unique?

Unlike traditional estate software that begins working after someone passes away—often requiring families to reconstruct paperwork from scratch while they are traumatised and lack access to essential documents—Estateeze starts earlier. It leverages the deceased’s own Lifeeze, which already contains the verified will, documents, passwords, and letter of wishes.

The Estate Winding-Up Process, Digitised

What normally takes months of phone calls, forms and follow-ups — tracked, automated, and visible to every party, in one place.

Client Dashboard & Death Notifications

Provide access to relevant family members and others who can remain informed about the status of the winding-up of the estate.

Data Through Integrations

Various third-party integrations provide the platform with valuable data instantly, including information on life policies, short-term insurance, medical aid, property registrations and values, vehicle valuations, directorships, trust details, and more.

For Fiduciary Firms & Executors

Client Dashboard
see every end-user client linked to your firm in one place.
Automatic Death Notification
notified the moment Home Affairs confirms a linked client has passed away; administration can begin immediately.
Executor Handover Alerts
notified via WhatsApp if a client replaces you as their nominated executor, so you can follow up directly; automatically delinked if the client moves to another firm.
The 13-Step Process, Tracked
the full statutory winding-up process, as an in-product milestone tracker, not a paper checklist.
Liquidity & Scenario Modelling
run and save client liquidity scenarios ahead of time, not just after death.
Billing
invoiced once an estate is formally activated for administration on the platform.

For Family Offices

Use Estateeze as an interactive planning system alongside your client and their families.

The system has the following distinctive features:

  • Create a detailed family tree for families with several wills, trusts, and eventually multiple estates.
  • Keep a life file for each individual, including a will, connected to the family structure.
  • Manage several inter vivos trusts within a single family.
  • When a person with a will passes away, their file is automatically transferred to an estate, and the winding-up process starts.
  • If a will requires a testamentary trust, Estateeze helps fulfil the registration process through a direct link to Trusteeze, where the trust can be managed.
  • Conduct a simulated estate analysis anytime to forecast cash-flow needs and estate taxes—useful for planning, not solely post-event review.

How It Works

Life → Death → Estate: The Full Journey

  1. Stage 1

    While You Are Living (Lifeeze)

You record your will, documents, passwords, letter of wishes, and financial overview, which are kept up-to-date via Email/WhatsApp reminders instead of a one-time form.

  2. Stage 2

The Moment of Death (The Trigger)

Home Affairs data confirms the death via our integrations. The nominated executor or fiduciary firm is automatically alerted. Passwords and the letter of wishes are then released in a verified, sequential manner.

  3. Stage 3

    Estate Administration (Estateeze)

Your Lifeeze data — including wills, documents, and financial accounts — integrates seamlessly into Estateeze. Your executor can efficiently follow the legally required 13-step process with your information readily available, eliminating the need to gather it from scratch.

How Lifeeze Data Flows Into Estateeze

Most families spend weeks discovering what existed (or may not even have access to the necessary documentation); with Lifeeze and Estateeze, that process is already complete.

Without the link
With Lifeeze → Estateeze connected
Executor starts from zero, hunting for documents
Executor opens an estate with the will, documents, and financial picture already in place
Death is reported manually, often with delay
Home Affairs verification triggers notification automatically — to both family and practitioner
Passwords and crypto assets are often lost forever
Sequential, verified release built into the same system that stored them
Liquidity and estate duty are guessed at after death
Already modelled while the person was alive, via the Mock Estate calculator — carried straight into Estateeze
Letter of wishes gets found too late, or not at all
Releases automatically once death is verified
Family and executor are working from different information
Same underlying record, no reconciliation needed
A family’s multiple wills/trusts are handled as separate, disconnected matters
One family tree, one system, testamentary trusts auto-registering as each estate resolves

FAQs

Lifeeze

What is Lifeeze?

Lifeeze is your personal life-admin assistant, a secure place to write your will, store your documents and passwords, record your wishes, and keep it all current with reminders sent to your phone.

Can I write a legally valid will using the Will Wizard?

Yes. The Will Wizard guides you through drafting a will step by step. As with any will, it must still be signed correctly in front of two witnesses to be legally valid.

What happens to my passwords when I die?

They're released securely and sequentially to the people you've nominated, only once your passing has been verified, not on request, and not to anyone you haven't chosen.

Who can see my Letter of Wishes?

No one, until your passing is verified. It's stored securely and released only then, to the people you specify.

What is a “Mock Estate” and why would I run one?

It's a liquidity calculation based on your actual will and financial information, showing you, today, what your family would actually inherit and whether your estate could cover its costs. Run it any time, save it, and compare scenarios as your circumstances change.

Can my family access my Lifeeze while I'm alive?

Only if you invite them. You control who can see what, and when.

What if I want to update my will or documents later?

Lifeeze is built to be updated, not filled in once. Reminders help you keep it current as your life changes.

Is my data secure and POPIA-compliant?

Yes. Access is verified, encrypted, and handled in line with POPIA.

Can I choose my own estate administrator?

Yes, stay standalone, or link your Lifeeze to a participating estate administration firm.

Estateeze

What is Estateeze?

Estateeze is estate administration software for executors, fiduciary firms and family offices, built to run the legally required winding-up process from a single dashboard, powered by data already stored in Lifeeze.

Who is Estateeze for?

Executors, attorneys, trust companies, fiduciary practitioners, and family offices managing deceased estates or who provide estate planning services.

How does Estateeze know when a client has passed away?

Death is verified through validated data. The moment a linked client's passing is confirmed, their nominated executor or firm is notified automatically, and administration can begin.

How much does Estateeze cost?

Estateeze is invoiced per estate, once that estate is formally activated for administration on the platform, not a flat software subscription.

What is the 13-step tracker?

It's the full statutory deceased estate winding-up process, from reporting the death to the Master through to final distribution, shown as trackable milestones instead of a paper checklist, so every party can see exactly where an estate stands.

Does Estateeze replace my role as executor?

No. You remain the appointed executor under the Administration of Estates Act; Estateeze automates and tracks the administrative process so you spend less time chasing paperwork and more time on the decisions that actually need you.

Can Estateeze handle multiple wills or trusts in one family?

Yes. Estateeze can map a full family structure, including multiple wills, inter vivos trusts, and, where needed, testamentary trusts that are registered once they come into effect.

How is Estateeze different from other estate administration software?

Other platforms start working after someone dies, reconstructing paperwork from scratch. Estateeze starts before that: because the deceased's own Lifeeze already holds their will, documents and financial picture, administration can begin with real information already in hand.

Lifeeze + Estateeze

How do Lifeeze and Estateeze work together?

Everything you record in your Lifeeze while you're alive, your will, documents, passwords, financial picture, flows directly into Estateeze the moment your passing is verified, so your executor isn't starting from zero.

Do I need both?

Individuals only need Lifeeze. Estateeze is for the executor or firm handling an estate, which may or may not be built on Lifeeze. When it is, the handoff between the two is where the real value shows up: nothing has to be found twice.

General Deceased Estate Administration

What happens if I die without a will in South Africa?

Your estate is distributed according to the Intestate Succession Act 81 of 1987, not your personal wishes. The Act follows a fixed order of family relationships, it can still leave your assets to unintended people, and typically takes longer and costs more to administer.

How long does it take to wind up a deceased estate?

Most estates take between 6 months to 2 years, depending on complexity, whether there are disputes, and how quickly documentation, SARS clearance and the Master's approvals come through. Larger or contested estates can take considerably longer.

What's the first thing that has to happen when someone dies?

The death must be reported to the Master of the High Court, generally within 14 days, along with the death notice and the original will (if one exists). This is what formally starts the administration process.

Who can be appointed as executor?

Any adult nominated in the will, or, if there's no valid will, a person nominated by the heirs and appointed by the Master. For estates over R250,000, the nominated executor must appoint a professional agent (an attorney, chartered accountant or trust company) to assist.

What does an executor actually do?

Reports the estate, takes control of and safeguards the assets, notifies creditors, settles debts and tax, compiles the Liquidation and Distribution (L&D) account, and distributes what remains to the heirs, all under the Administration of Estates Act 66 of 1965.

How much does an executor charge?

Fees are capped by regulation at 3.5% (plus VAT) of the gross estate value, and 6% (plus VAT) on income the estate collects after death.

What is a “small estate” and does the process differ?

Estates under R250,000 in gross value can generally follow a simplified process, with the Master issuing Letters of Authority instead of full Letters of Executorship, usually faster and with lower fees.

What does the Master of the High Court actually do?

The Master oversees every deceased estate reported in South Africa, appointing and supervising executors, approving the L&D account, and protecting the interests of creditors and heirs throughout.

Can a will be contested?

Yes, on grounds such as the testator lacking mental capacity, undue influence, fraud, or the will not meeting the formal signing requirements of the Wills Act 7 of 1953. Contested wills materially extend how long an estate takes to finalise.

What happens to debts when someone dies?

Debts don't disappear, they're settled from the estate before anything is distributed to heirs. Heirs are not personally liable for a deceased's debts beyond what the estate itself can cover.

Does every estate pay estate duty?

No. Estate duty applies above a set abatement threshold, and certain deductions (such as amounts left to a surviving spouse) can reduce or eliminate it. Whether duty is payable depends on the specific estate.

What happens to jointly owned property or assets held in community of property?

Where spouses are married in community of property, the joint estate is generally divided in half, the deceased's half is administered as part of the deceased estate, while the survivor's half remains theirs.

What is a Liquidation and Distribution (L&D) account?

The formal document an executor compiles showing all estate assets, debts, expenses and how the remaining balance will be distributed. It's lodged with the Master and made available for inspection before final distribution.

Can heirs access money or assets before the estate is finalised?

Generally no, except for limited maintenance provisions the Master may approve for dependants during administration. Full distribution only happens once the L&D account has been approved.

What if the deceased had assets outside South Africa?

Foreign assets usually require a separate administration process in that country, often coordinated alongside the South African executor, this is one of the most common sources of delay in an otherwise straightforward estate.

Security

How Estateeze and Lifeeze protect what you store with us — every layer, explained plainly.

  1. 1

    Encrypted in transit, without exception

Every connection to Estateeze is encrypted. We publish a two-year security policy covering all of our addresses, and we are on the browser preload list — which means browsers refuse to connect to us over an unencrypted link at all, even on a first visit, before we have said a word.

  2. 2

Your most sensitive entries are encrypted individually

Vault notes, digital-asset credentials and authenticator secrets are each encrypted separately, using AES-256-GCM, before they reach our database. They are not simply sitting behind an encrypted disk — every value is individually encrypted, so a copy of the database is not a copy of your secrets.

  3. 3

Your documents stay in South Africa

Wills, identity documents, policy schedules and everything else you upload are stored in Amazon's Cape Town region. Your family's documents do not leave the country to sit on a server somewhere you have never heard of.

  4. 4

One firm can never see another firm's clients

Every request is checked against twenty-three separate permission rules before any information is returned. A fiduciary administrator sees the clients of their own firm and nothing else. This is enforced on our servers on every single request — it is not merely hidden from view in the interface.

  5. 5

    Consent is recorded, not assumed

Before we search any external register on someone's behalf, we record their consent as its own permanent record: who consented, exactly which categories of information it covers, when, and from where. If anyone later asks what we were permitted to do, the answer is a record rather than a recollection.

  6. 6

    Sign-in that fails safely

Accounts lock themselves for thirty minutes after five failed sign-in attempts. We never store your session token — only a one-way fingerprint of it — so even a stolen copy of our database could not be used to impersonate you. Sessions expire on their own and can be revoked at any time.

  7. 7

A password reset that genuinely locks an intruder out

Reset links work once and expire after fifteen minutes. Completing a reset signs out every open session on every device, so if somebody else was already inside your account, they are removed the moment you finish. Changing your password while signed in does the same, keeping only the device you are using.

  8. 8

    Hardened against the routine attacks

Sign-in, registration, uploads and payment pages are rate-limited by account and by address, so guessing attacks stall rather than run. We send a full set of security headers on every response, refuse to allow our pages to be embedded inside another site, and never expose your session to scripts running in the page.

About us

Most life-admin apps are developed by creators who haven't experienced sitting with a grieving family dealing with incorrect or incomplete paperwork. Our app was created by a team that has.

Our three-brand family includes Trusteeze® (for trusts), Lifeeze™ (covering your life while you're alive), and Estateeze™ (for your estate after you’re gone) — forming a seamless fiduciary ecosystem rather than three separate products.

We are thought leaders.
